The Site is designed to provide individuals with information and online booking facilities for holiday accommodation on St Helena Island.

We (Travel St Helena (UK) Ltd.) act only as an agent. When you make a booking your contract (or contracts) will always be with the Supplier(s) of the travel services you have booked

By accessing or using the Site, you signify your assent to this Disclaimer.

Please note our use of your personal data in accordance with our privacy policy, available here.

Disclaimer & Terms of Use Updates

Please check this Disclaimer & Terms of Use regularly to ensure that you understand the current terms & conditions that apply at the time that you access and use the Site.

Making Bookings

To secure a booking, enter your dates into the search boxes, review the results listing what’s available at that time, make a selection and complete the booking form, which will include a 20% non-refundable deposit payment (or full payment if less than 21 days before start of visit). Once submitted, you will receive an acknowledgment email. We will then do a final check with the Supplier on St Helena to verify availability.

Why A Non-Refundable Deposit?

St Helena’s remote location coupled with the challenging logistics of visiting, (there is only one flight per week) means most travel arrangements to the island are usually made many months in advance. Fewer holiday bookings are made at shorter notice. The non-refundable deposit therefore compensates local accommodation businesses from losses incurred through cancellations, and the subsequent difficulties of finding a replacement booking.

Bookings

By making a booking, you agree on behalf of all persons detailed on the booking that you have read these booking conditions and agree to be bound by them and you are over 18 years of age.

If you believe that any details on the booking summary (or any other document) are wrong you must advise us immediately as it may not be possible to make changes later, you may incur charges to make changes and it may harm your rights if we are not notified of any inaccuracies in any document immediately.

Please check that all names, dates and timings are correct on receipt of all documents and advise us of any errors immediately. We will not make any charge for changes to documents, but you may have to pay any charges made by Suppliers. Please ensure that the names given are the same as in the relevant passport.

Making Payment

You will be required to pay a deposit or, if less than 21 days before first night’s stay, make full payment for your booking at the time of booking. Where you only pay a deposit you must pay the full balance by the balance due date notified to you. If full payment is not received within 48 hours of the balance due date, we will notify the Supplier who may cancel your booking. Except where otherwise advised or stated in the booking conditions of the Supplier concerned, all monies you pay to us for arrangements will be held on behalf of the supplier(s) concerned.

Balance Due

The remaining balance for bookings is due 21 days before the start of a customer’s first booked night. An email reminder will be sent from Travel St Helena (UK) Ltd. Customers should pay the balance within 48 hours or risk losing their booking.

Your Contract

When making your booking we will arrange for you to enter into contracts with the Supplier (accommodation) named on your booking summary. We act as a booking agent for the Supplier. The Supplier’s booking conditions will apply to your booking and we advise you to read these carefully as they contain important information about your booking. Please ask us for copies of these if you do not have them. Until the accommodation booking has been confirmed by the individual Supplier, no contract has been formed.

As an agent we accept no responsibility for the acts or omissions of the Supplier or for the services provided by the Supplier.

If You Want To Amend Your Accommodation Booking

Any amendment request must be sent to us in writing by the person who placed the booking, giving reasons for the request. Any cancellation or amendment request will not take effect until received and confirmed by us. We will do our best to facilitate the request, by liaising with the accommodation provider as necessary and trying to find a solution that suits both parties. Ultimately, amendments are likely to depend on the request itself and the existing commitments of the Supplier of your accommodation service. If the amendment requested incurs an expense for the Supplier, you may be expected to pay for this cost.  If the requested amendment turns out not to be possible, we will be happy to assist you in organising an alternative arrangement or booking to enable your holiday to proceed.

If an amendment unfortunately turns out not to be possible, the process of cancelling the booking will begin.

Cancelling Your Accommodation Booking

Any cancellation request must be sent to us in writing by the person who placed the booking, giving reasons for the request. Any cancellation or amendment request will not take effect until received and confirmed by us. Cancellation requests received before the 21-day point ahead of the first night’s stay, with only the deposit having been paid already, will generally mean the booking is then terminated. The (non-refundable) deposit payment remains with the accommodation Supplier. No refund will be issued. Cancellation requests received after 21 days, or after the full balance has already been paid, and at least seven days before the start of the first night’s stay, will be eligible for a 50% refund of the total cost.

Refunds will normally be issued within 21 days and normally via the original payment method.

Changes or Cancellations by the Supplier

We will inform you of any changes or cancellations as soon as reasonably possible.

We will also liaise between you and the Supplier in relation to any alternative accommodation arrangements offered by the Supplier.

If the Supplier offers alternative arrangements or a refund, you will need to let us know your choice within the (reasonable) time frame we stipulate. If you fail to do so the Supplier is entitled to assume you wish to receive a full refund, including the original deposit.

We accept no liability for any changes or cancellations made to your arrangements by the Supplier under your contract with them.

Refunds

Where it is determined that a refund to you is payable, you will be informed of the total amount to be refunded as soon as reasonably possible. Refund payments will usually be made within 21 days, and usually via the same method that was used to make the booking.

If the original payment for the Travel Service (accommodation) was made by bank transfer, then refunds will be issued using this same method.

Our responsibility for your Booking

Your contract is with the Supplier and its booking conditions apply. We accept no responsibility for the actual provision of the Supplier’s services. Our responsibilities are limited to making the booking in accordance with your instructions. We accept no responsibility for any information about the arrangements that we pass on to you in good faith. We do not exclude or limit any liability for death or personal injury that arises as a result of our negligence or that of any of our employees whilst acting in the course of their employment.

Complaints

The contract for your arrangements is between you and the Supplier and any queries or concerns should be addressed to them. If you have a problem whilst on holiday, this must be reported to the Supplier or their local supplier or agent immediately. If you fail to follow this procedure, there will be less opportunity to investigate and rectify your complaint. The amount of compensation you may be entitled to may be reduced or you may not receive any at all depending upon the circumstances.

Special Requests

If you have any special requests (for example dietary requirements, cots or room location), please let us know at the time of booking. We will pass on all such requests to the Supplier but we do not guarantee that they will be met and we will have no liability to you if they are not.

Please be aware, there are no Kosher or Halel foods on St Helena and vegan food is limited.

Accessibility on St Helena

You should be aware much of St Helena’s buildings and infrastructure is quite dated, and is generally not very accessibility friendly.

If you require accessibility facilities at your accommodation, please inform us before placing a booking so that we can ensure the Supplier (accommodation) is able to offer the necessary advice on the support they can provide.

Travel Insurance

Adequate travel insurance is a condition of your contract with either us or the Supplier in question, as applicable. You must take out a policy of insurance in order to cover you and your party against the cost of cancellation by you; the cost of assistance for at least £175,000 (including medical evacuation by air) in the event of accident or illness; loss of baggage and money; and other expenses. If you fail to travel with adequate insurance cover, we will not be liable for any losses in respect of which insurance cover would otherwise have been available.

Entry Fee & Visa

An entry permit fee of £20 is charged to all visitors to St Helena, which allows a stay of up to 183 days. Children under the age of 12 are exempt from this fee.

Please check if a visa is required for entry into St Helena against the list of countries on the St Helena Government Evisa website.

Visas are to be applied for in advance.  There is no ‘visa on entry’ facility available.  The process can take up to 21 days and the visa costs £50 and payable via PayPal.

A visa is NOT required for UK, most European countries, Canadian and USA passport holders.  Please check list if you qualify.

Missed Flights

St Helena Airport strongly recommends having travel insurance to cover missed departure and delayed departure in the event that the flight to and from the island is significantly delayed. This can happen occasionally due to adverse weather conditions.
